  1. I’ve been guarded, trying not to relax completely. Joe Biden is sworn in. I can relax a lot more (while knowing we have a lot of work to do as a country).

    Speaking of relaxing, I got a surge of emotion reading this–it was a feeling of relief, and also gratitude. I thank God He helped us get to this point. (She’s a historian of dictators. What she and other students of dictators have said: “When an authoritarian comes to power, they are hard to remove.” Also, lest we become too complacent, authoritarians often come back to power.

    But “at this hour:”

    I thought this was a little long and hard to follow at times. But it feels like a poem (like many poems) that needs to be read over and over again. There were definitely some good moments, though.

    I agree with the tweet below:

    There’s resonates with me, but I would change the second part to “seasoned with the weariness that comes from the horror of living through an authoritarian regime” or something to that effect.
